“It won’t be easy,” Sprocket said. “And if you even think about escape he’ll have you thrown in the acid canal.”
“Thrown in the acid canal?” Sir Glorious didn’t like the sound of that.
“The Master sacrifices a lot of people to the canal At least one a week. To build up a death toll. No one wants to adventure in a dungeon if no one’s died in it,” Spocket said. “Us gnomes are safe because we’re skilled labor. And you yourself will probably be put to work mining. But your red haired friend, she’s another story.”
“You mean Thistle?”
“She’ll certainly be sacrificed to the river. Girl sacrifices are hard to find,” Sprocket said.
“Sacrifices are usually on Thursdays,” one of the other gnomes helpfully offered, before returning to his card game.
Glorious was shocked. “There is no time for sacrifices! The Citadel awaits!”
